Magazine Review

For our media project this year, we are doing a magazine review about our film.

To do this, we looked at Empire magazine, and decided to analyse a review. We looked at Carrie and it's different features used, hoping to get ideas for our review.

To create our magazine review, as we had access to iMacs, we used Pages. Through this we were able to create the different conventions of  a magazine article, for example the columns. It took us a while to get used to Pages as this was a completely new software to us, so we played around with it for a bit, and eventually found the different features that it could offer us.

I wrote the article first on Word, to get the text right, to make sure it all made sense. I then found suitable different pictures that we could add to our review. In the end, I picked the one used for the poster and the flashback scene where the bully hits Ava.

Transferring this over to Pages took a while, as we had to get the right layout and the right size pictures and text. The magazine article was only meant to be 5 columns long, however after adding the picture and the summary, we then found it had to be 6 to make sure that the readers could read it.

After looking at other articles, I found that many of them pulled out quotes from the review to break up the columns and to draw the readers attention.  I found this to be really effective in my article, changing the font style and colour so it catches the reader's attention
